The Santa Clarita Valley and the William S. Hart UHSD have lost two great educators within recent weeks. Both were highly respected and dearly loved by teachers, students, and parents alike. They will be sorely missed.
Pete Pew, a teacher at Hart High School for 34 years, made incalculable contributions to students and colleagues. His loss is felt personally by the entire Hart HS family and all who were honored to know him. Former students have taken steps to create a memorial award through SCVSF.
Clyde Smyth served as the District’s Superintendent from 1975-1992 and remained active as a community leader. We are proud to be one of the three non-profits designated by the Smyth family to honor his memory. The Spring 2012 application period has now ended.
